The Armory Show 031012
I went to The Armory Show with my sister today. For those of you who don’t know what The Armory Show is (which is probably all three of you babays, seeing as you’re thousands of miles away from me), it’s a huge four day art show at piers 92 and 94 in Manhattan that’s been going on since Thursday.
The Armory Show-Modern is held at Pier 92, that’s where all of the better known art is (I know you guys like Yoshitomo Nara and Chuck Close—some of their pieces were at the Pace Gallery cubicle).
The Armory Show-Contemporary is held at Pier 94, that’s where all the up-and-coming art is. All of the pieces here was made by artists who are still alive (Yoshitomo Nara and Chuck Close are still alive though, they’re just really well known). Personally, I liked this section more because of its quirkyness.

I was dumb and didn’t write down any of the artists’ names, but all of these are from the contemporary show. 2 reminds me of Mark Mulroney’s paintings (Avi and I went to one of his shows at Guerrero in SF last summer, check him out). 3, that’s a neon noose. Also, the man in 4 seems very skeptical of my picture-taking skills. Anyways, that’s how the cubicles looked.

We went to Il Baretto for lunch in the Hell’s Kitchen area. Yelp gives it 4.5 stars, my bowels do not.
